Q: Can I travel solo? Does it cost less than going with two people?
A: You can! However all cabins are booked and charged as 'double occupancy' unless explicitly stated otherwise. This means if you want a room for yourself, you must buy two tickets. But if you need help finding a roommate let us know!
Q: Can I fit 3 people in a cabin or more?
A: There are only a FEW cabins on board river cruises that can fit 3 guests - Contact us for details!
Q: Can I upgrade my room at a later time?
A: Yes! Based on availability from the ship, and your preference for costs - if you choose to upgrade at a later time, we can check with the ship to get you upgraded.
Q: What if I want to GM? Can i get a discount?
A: We have a Community GM program just for this! If you bring a full table of paying Players (at least 6 people) with you, we'll HIRE YOU to GM that table and get you all the GM perks such as paying for your way aboard, a travel voucher to get you to the port, payment for running your game, and other perks!
Q: I've never cruised before, what should I expect?
A: Exotic European locations, premium dining and drinks, FREE excursions in European cities, parties and events, and TTRPG games! We often share the ships with the general public, but our events will be held in private spaces on board just for US!
We've crafted this experience to make sure you'll have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the ship, food, drinks, and locations between your TTRPG games.
We have a whole community of experienced cruisers, FAQs, and orientation instructions leading up to the cruise - PLUS we will all meet up on board (or sometimes at a hotel the day before) so you're never feeling left in the dark!
Q: What does my ticket price include?
A: It includes your cabin on board for 7 nights on an AMAZING cruise down the Danube River, plus your WIFI, your TTRPG gaming experiences, your food and drinks onboard, all the ship events and amenities, free SWAG, fun events like a masquerade party and one-shots, group excursions off the ship in each city!
PLUS a special group event for TWO EXTRA NIGHTS in Brasov, Romania where we will travel to DRACULA'S CASTLE for once-in-a-lifetime events! A masquerade party in the castle, as well as another night of TTRPG gaming!
Q: What Cruise Lines does D3Journeys use for European River boat sailings?
A: Ama Waterways is our primary choice - due to their high value and features, but we explore all major cruise lines to find the best possible fit for the group.
Q: Are there any additional fees on top of my ticket?
A: Most Cruise lines do charge a daily 'gratuities fee' per person that goes to the staff onboard, but for river cruises (including this one) this is INCLUDED in your ticket price!
Q: What can I do on board for free? What food and drink is included?
A: Most of your time on board the ship will be spent sleeping or dining, as most of each day will be spent in EXOTIC locations where you can get off the ship with the group on FREE excursions of your choice! Some events will be held on board throughout the week but we try to maximize your Europe experience with as much time in ports as possible!
All food and drink on board is included during dinner and on board events, drinks outside of event or dining times may have an additional cost, but is reasonably priced.
Q: Are there upgrade packages for food or drink or WIFI?
A: Not needed! All food and drink and WIFI is included in your ticket cost, so you dont have to worry about paying more to get a premium experience!
Q: What about events off the ship in the ports we visit?
A: We have several off-ship events that we will share as we get closer to sailing, the ship typically only shares the excursion schedules within 30-60 days of sailing, but booked guests will be the first to know what events are planned and when! There will be multiple excursions each day even if you don't choose to do D3 events with us!
Q: What kind of gaming will be do on board?
A: Our GMs will each have a multi-session tabletop experience (3 sessions) planned for up to 6 people at their table, the story, setting and system will all be decided upon and shared with everyone by your GM when you book. We will also typically have one-shots available if the schedule allows, and our FINAL gaming session will take place IN DRACULA'S CASTLE in Romania!
Q: Are the TTRPG gaming events FREE?
A: Yes! The gaming campaigns and group events come with your D3 ticket! Several days of TTRPG gaming and other events like parties and masquerade balls are all included in your ticket cost. There may be special events that do cost extra if we have some really amazing GMs or special guests!
Q: How can I be a GM?
A: We will contract you as a GM for D3atSea if you can bring a full 6-player table of paying players with you! You'll get all sorts of perks like travel reimbursement, a free bed in a cabin, free hotel room the night before, drink and dining packages, and MORE! Q: What systems do you run?
A: That's up to the GM! We always have a healthy number of D&D 5e games, but some GM tables may choose other systems if they wish! You'll be able to see what systems and the details of the games the GMs are running when the GMs share that info closer to sailing!
Q: Can I run my own games on board?
A: You can! We have a 'Looking for Group' section of our discord after you book where people can create and make their own games to run onboard! Keep in mind we normally run a PACKED schedule so finding times to run pick up games can be tricky! But after the schedules are shared you'll know when the free times are!
Q: Can I bring and hand out my own gaming swag?
A: Yes! As long as its not promoting a business, its fine! Only approved business vendors and D3 sponsors are allowed to hand out or sell any SWAG items, but you can always reach out to us and ask so we can work together to make it a GREAT experience for everyone! We love supporting our guests' small businesses each year - just let us know!
Q: Is a passport required?
A: It IS required to have a passport for river cruise events, no other travel documents can be accepted. You'll need your passport to travel to the port city either way, so be sure to have one ready!
Q: What should I do to prepare before the cruise?
A: Getting checked in with the cruise line via their website or app is CRITICAL! This is usually available about 3-4 weeks before sailing. Otherwise there is a massive amount of tips and checklists you can find online to make sure you're fully ready, and that you know everything you need to! You'll also want to print your documents and luggage tags before arriving at the port!
Q: When do I need to be on board the ship?
A: Boarding begins the morning of the 20th, you can begin boarding first thing, but all guests have to be on board BEFORE 3pm local time!
Q: Where do we meet the group?
A: D3 will have a table at the hotel adjacent to the port the night before the sailing, as well as a desk on board the ship for when you board where you can check-in with us and get your SWAG!
Q: What about getting off the ship at ports?
A: Excursions will all be led by ship staff, and D3 staff will join certain excursions with the guests. Some Excursions may take us to EXCITING places where D3 will have events like gaming off the ship! Booked guests will get all the juicy details as soon as we have the confirmations from the ship's schedule!
Q: When do we get back and when should I book my flight home?
A: When we are done in Brasov, Romania you will want to book your flight home from Bucharest, Romania as the closest major airport. Transportation to the airport will be provided.
